Powering an FEI-Level Horse with Junior Rider Annelise Klepper
Wellington, Fla. - Feb. 28, 2020 - How do you efficiently fuel a high level performance horse for optimized health and competition? For Junior Rider Annelise Klepper, the answer was clear once she learned about the importance of integrating whole food nutrition into her horse's regimen.

Klepper was first connected to BioStar US when founder Tigger Montague gave a lecture about equine nutrition to the Dressage4Kids Winter Intensive Training Program participants. Intrigued by the lesson about feeding whole foods to optimize health and performance, she reached out to learn more and later became an ambassador.

When she first partnered with her FEI mount Happy Texas Moonlight, a 13-year-old Oldenburg gelding owned by Shannon Klepper, just over a year ago, she immediately put him on a nutrition regimen with BioStar products recommended just for him.

"He is on Alixir EQ and it's really awesome," Klepper explained. "I used BioStar from the start. He has been so healthy and energetic, always eager to please when he is doing his job. I think that what we're feeding him has a lot to do with that. He has always maintained a good weight too."

Alixir EQ, a comprehensive recovery formula, is an ideal supplement for equine athletes as it provides whole horse hydration support and mitochondrial support from purified shilajit extract. Offered as a paste that includes organic barley grass powder for superoxide dismutase (SOD) and camelina oil for added vitamin E, it ensures a quick delivery of nutrients to the systemic circulatory system.

"BioStar is really a great company," she said. "They've always been super supportive of everything that I've done and I just love that the products are whole food."

In 2019, her first year of Junior division competition, Klepper and Happy Texas Moonlight claimed top placings at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival (AGDF) and helped the U.S. Region 2 team earn a silver medal at the North American Youth Championships in Salem, New York. Undefeated so far in the 2020 season, they are geared up to compete in the Florida International Youth Championships this week.
